Stateless - Bloodstream

ＤＪシャドウ (Dj Shadow) の2006年のアルバム The Outsider で、その美しい歌声を披露していた元セルフ (Self) のヴォーカル、クリス・ジェイムス (Chris James) が2007年にアルバム・デビューしたヨークシャーのＤＪ／プロデューサー Kidkanevil らと結成したＵＫ／リーズの５ピース、ステイトレス (Stateless)。

2006年に10インチＥＰ The Bloodstream をリリース後、人気ＤＪミックス・シリーズ『DJ-Kicks』のリリースで知られるドイツ／ベルリンのダンス・レーベル Studio !K7 と契約。

プロデューサーにアークティック・モンキーズ (Arctic Monkeys) の名作 Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not やエディターズ (Editors) の１ｓｔ The Back Room 等を手掛けてきたジム・アビス (Jim Abbiss) を迎え、リード・シングル「Exit」に続いてリリースしたセルフ・タイトルのデビュー・アルバム Stateless からの最新シングル "Bloodstream"。

ファーサイド (the Pharcyde) のヒップホップ・クラシック "Passin' Me By" を思わせるプログラミングと生ドラムを融合したビートをバックに荘厳なメロディを奏でるアコースティック・ピアノの旋律。

深遠な残響音がどこまでも鳴り響くメランコリックなギターに絡む Kidkanevil の卓越したスクラッチ。

コールドプレイ (Coldplay) のクリス・マーティン (Chris Martin) やトム・ヨーク (Thom Yorke) を彷彿とさせるクリス・ジェイムスの美しいヴォーカルと切ないメロディ。

レディオヘッド (Radiohead)、コールドプレイのメランコリズムとＤＪシャドウ、マッシヴ・アタック (Massive Attack) のダークネスが自然な形で融合した傑作です♫
